VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
FACILITIES AND SERVICES COMMITTEE
April 14, 2008
Members present: Patton, Watterson, Milko
Also present: Mayor Brick, Himes, Bloom, Byron, Zugan, Lutz, Subel, Evans, Lannon
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Steven Patton.
“ART BY THE FALLS”
Mr. Himes said last year the Valley Art Center requested a liquor permit to serve wine at the “Art by the Falls” event. This Committee approved it as a test, a one-time approval. They Valley Art Center is requesting it again this year. A representative of the Valley Art Center said last year it went very well. She said they don’t sell the wine the entire time of the event. She said this year it will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Riverside Park. They protect the perimeter of the park and make sure signs are posted so that nobody leaves the park with alcohol. Identification will be checked. Mr. Himes said last year there were no incidents.
Moved by Mr. Patton, seconded by Mr. Milko that we permit the Valley Art Center to use Riverside Park for “Art by the Falls” and grant them permission to serve wine at the event. The motion carried unanimously.
AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CHAGRIN FALLS SUBURBAN VOLUNTEER FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION, INC.
Mr. Himes explained that is just tying up a loose end with construction a couple of years ago of the storage building on the water department property on East Washington Street. Suburban constructed the building on the Village’s property. As we’ve done with the fire station, they would now propose to turn the building over to the Village. They would get a twenty-year lease in exchange for their use. This agreement is in line with the agreement that we have for the fire station. There is only one change. He would recommend replacing the wording in Item No. 7 of the agreement where it says: “In the event of termination by the Village, the Village would pay Suburban $10,000 per year.” to “In the event of termination by the Village, the Village shall reimburse to Suburban the sum of money incurred by Suburban prorated over the balance of the term still remaining.”
Moved by Mr. Patton, seconded by Mr. Milko that we recommend at Council tonight that we do enter into the agreement as stated with the Chagrin Falls Suburban Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Inc. for the property on East Washington Street subject to the modification of the last paragraph where the Village would pay a prorated amount over the remaining term. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
