VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
BOARD OF CEMETERY TRUSTEES
January 13, 2010

Members present: Trace, White, Hecker
Also present: Arnold, Brockway, Buddenhagen, Snedeker

The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Chairman Larry Trace.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Mrs. White, seconded by Mr. Hecker that the minutes of the meetings held October 14, 2009 and November 11, 2009 be approved. The motion carried unanimously.

NON-RESIDENT REQUEST TO PURCHASE GRAVES

Mr. Trace presented to the Board a written request from Richard and Helen Maurer of South Russell to purchase two grave sites. Moved by Mrs. White, seconded by Mr. Hecker to deny the request to purchase two in-ground grave sites but to allow them the opportunity to purchase niches in the columbarium. The motion carried unanimously.

COLUMBARIUM RULES, REGULATIONS, & PROCEDURES

Moved by Mrs. White, seconded by Mr. Hecker to approve the Columbarium Rules, Regulations, & Procedures.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mr. Arnold presented to the Board a list of graves purchased, graves sold, and burials for 2009.

There was general discussion regarding a memorial garden but they realize maintenance may be an issue. Mr. Snedeker mentioned that the money situation may not be any better this year than it was last year.

Mr. Trace suggested that this year they submit an informational article to the newspaper promoting the cemetery and the columbarium unit.

They discussed expanding the cemetery in the back section but money may be an issue for this project also. They thought that maybe a three-phrase expansion project would sound better to Council starting in 2011 and going through 2013. They will work on a marketing plan to present to the Facilities and Services Committee (Steve Patton, Dwight Milko, & Adam Jacobs).

Other suggestions were to sell mausoleums and construct in-ground grave sites around the existing mausoleum.

Moved by Mrs. White, seconded by Mr. Trace that money be put into this year’s budget to send Mr. Arnold to the annual Ohio Association of Cemetery Superintendents & Officials conference and trade show. The motion carried unanimously.
