Chagrin Falls Arts Commission Meeting

Members present: Jean Hood, Scott Lax, Don Edelman, Dwight Milko
The meeting was called to order at 5:45pm.

Library Report
Kim Dressel of Chagrin Falls Public Library addressed the committee. The library provides revolving art shows to the community every two months. She announced a student photography contest this summer for grades 7 – 12. They also provide a free music series for the public in the winter. The Commission suggested a writing contest for students.

Village Arts Organizations
Bob Halliday, Tom Neff, Steve Thomas, and Mary Ann Ponce, representatives from VAC, CVLT, CFAC and Chagrin Film Festival, gave updates on their organizations.

Partnership Discussion
The Commission discussed ways cultural organizations can use partnerships as a strategy for building participation in the arts in the community and how the Village can be a partner. We discussed plans for an arts kiosk in the Village or a digital bulletin board to show visitors what arts opportunities are currently available. We discussed meeting with the Economic Development Committee to pursue the idea.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45pm. The next meeting is September 14th.
